Visiting to various Hock Chew & Heng Hwa Temples in Geylang (一訪本地福州興化廟宇)

On the 5th of May, Ruihe and Jave went to visit a few Hock Chew & Heng Hwa Temple after making order for Ruihe’s Taoist Group’s Altar at Aljunied.

First, we arrived at Qing Long Temple (青龍宮) located at Sims Lane. This Temple was built dedicating to Medical Deity Lord Bao Sheng (保生大帝) & Lord Guan Yu (關聖帝君).

Upon arrival, we saw that the Temple gate was closed and so, we waited for a while, but after about 5 minutes, we decided to move-up. Just before we left the premises, Ruihe saw quite a number of Roosters, Hens and Chicks running around, so we stayed a bit longer to take pictures, hoping that the Temple would be opened, but to our disappointment, it didn’t, so we had to proceed on.

Second Temple we stopped at was Bao Chong Temple (寶重宮), Temple dedicated to a lot of Hock Chew & Heng Hwa Deities. This Temple was located at Geylang Lor 27, just situated besides a Tibetian Buddhist Center.

In Bao Chong Temple, the most special feature was, inside this Temple, you are able to find the Biggest Statue dedicated to Tong Tian Sheng Mu aka Lin Shui Fu Ren Chen Jing Gu (通天聖姆陳靖姑), the female disciple of Heavenly Master Xu Xun (許遜天師).

Besides that, we are able to see the 10 Sworn Sisters of Chen Jing Gu known as Shi Gong Fu Ren (十宮夫人) and the 2 sons of Lin Shui Fu Ren known as Tai Bao She Ren (太保舍人). This was indeed the Best Temple to request for Blessing for Little Children or Couples that wanting Off-spring.

At the Right Hall of Bao Chong Temple, we saw a few partition Altars dedicated to various Deities, the one that really caught our Attention was the Altar that dedicated to Lord Cai (蔡復一大人), which was the founder of the Popiah aka Spring-roll (福建薄餅發源人).

According to the Plaque above the Statue, it stated that this Statue was being invited from China Fu Zhou City Zhu Xi Temple (福州竹溪寺), which was a Historical Temple built in Ming Dynasty (建于明朝年間).

After paying our Respect to All the Deities in Bao Chong Temple, we proceed to Pu Tian Association (新加坡莆田公會) located at Geylang Lor 33 to pay our Respect to Ma Zu (天上聖姆媽祖).

In this Temple, we were being warmly welcomed by the Heng Hwa Old Uncle and he guided us on the procedure of the Paying of Respect, just before we left the Temple, we were being offered Chinese Tea and encouraged to bring back the Amulet from Ma Zu Ancestral Temple in Mei Zhou in China (中國湄州媽祖祖廟) – see Pic templevisit_13_putianhuiguan.

With then, we proceed to settle some issues at Rochor Center and met up with Gerald for our Dinner and headed home.

What an interesting Day.
