In here, you all will be seeing a group of 11 photos taken on the Tong Shan Temple – dedicated to Bao Sheng Da Di Wu Tao (保生大帝吳本) – the Medical Deity (道教醫神).
This Temple was situated in China Hokkien Pu Tian City Yue Tang County Pan Village (莆田月塘乡东潘村).
As you can see in the pictures, most of the Deities are closely related to the ”Heng Hwa” Culture.

ReplyDeleteThis is Dan Xia Da Sheng (丹霞大聖), no Monkey Sage. This is the assistant of Lin Shui Fu Ren.

ReplyDeleteO i c...perhaps Dan Xia Da Sheng is like Qi Tian Da Sheng in our folks culture which eliminate evil which thus is important to the Fu Zhou people and also for health remedies...
ReplyDeleteI heard and read somewhere the two real assistants of Tian Du are actually Xiang Gu Xian Li (響鼓仙吏) and Ming Luo Xian Guan (鳴鑼仙官), instead of Golden Chicken and Sliver Dog (金鸡银狗) in legend, which is more towards his "childhood friends".
Yup, can say so. Dan Xia Da Sheng was actually a Monkey Spirit that being subdued by Madam Lin Shui after she had got his Immortal-hood.
