Tian Men Kai Honouring at Bao Chi Gong (天門開之保赤宮祈福)

Today (27 Jul 2009, 6th Day of Lunar 6 Month), the Official Day for the "Opening of Heavenly Gate (天門開)".

In Taoism, this Day is also known as Tian Kuang Ri (天貺日), meaning Heavenly Bestowing Blessing to the Beings.

As usual, Long Shan Men (龍山門) will visit Temples that dedicate Altar to Jade Emperor of Heaven (玉皇大天尊). This Year, we decide to visit Bao Chi Gong to pay our Respect to Jade Emperor of Heaven.

Upon arriving at the Temple, only a few devotees were in the Temple making their honouring, maybe due to the Rainy Weather or due to Not Much People knew of this Important Day.

After a quick Chit-chat with the Members of the Temple, we proceed to prepare our Offerings for the Honouring.

Soon after the Offerings were ready, the Honouring started with a Report and then performing of Requesting for World Peace. By then, it was already 1.00Pm. And so, the Sending-off of the Paper Offerings were done and we left the Temple for our Lunch.

During the Interval, I went around the Temple to take some Pictures that I miss out in the Last Trip.

PS: Bao Chi Gong will be Celebrating Tian Men Kai on 28 July 2009 (Tuesday).

  6. The Plaque was being placed there by some Ignorant Folks.

Recently just got a "Complain" from a Group of Taoists on this Plaque. But till today, I have yet to consult the Members of the Temple on why they placed that Un-relevant Plaque there.

  7. Today I visited this temple & took a closer look at the 3 deities...it reads Shui Guan , Tian Guan & Di Guan.

  8. To be honest, in Bao Chi Gong, there arent any Tian Guan, Di Guan & Shui Guan being honoured. I think some people are trying to make fun and make use of the Names of San Guan to do certain Un-known events.

  9. Fyi...San Guan Da Di can be found at havelock road tee gong tua.

  10. Yup, that's one of the Temples in that Area that honour San Guan. But one of the San Guan was being treated as Wen Chang (文昌), so from here, you can know of the mix-&-match culture.

  11. Jave, havelock teegong beo have removed the tablet that displayed wen chang yeh. Now they displayed it as kong zi kong and san yuan da di.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thats Great. Cos alot of people tend to mistaken it as Wen Chang for Shui Guan. Now removed, good that they are doing something to it.

  13. sometimes I wonder poh chi gong is whether taoist or buddhist? sometimes they do tao & sometimes they do buddhist. should hav a standard practice.

  14. Yup, now actually alot of our Local Temples still dont really know where they belongs too, this is one very sad issue.

Most of the Taoist People are not willingly to share much with them and worst is that, without Commercial Value, no People are willingly to assist them and so, more and more Taoist Temples rather moved towards Buddhism, cos at least the Buddhists are willingly to lend a helping hand.

  15. i agree w u. I hav been trying to educate ppl abt taoism yet they still intend to merge the two. each is a different religion.if both can merge so can others,we taoist respect all other religions but shuld not mix.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yup, what you say are very Right.

Taoism respect ALL, but never we will merge or promote others Culture.

Recent Years, due to Commercialization, this type of Merging become Worst. Even Taoist Priests are trying to gain Commercial Value from such Merging, I think this is a Form of Degrading & Disgrace for Taoism.

We shall try to do our Best to make Changes.

Dont wait for the so-called Leaders to do it, we ALL, individual, oneself, MUST try our best to do it. So Taoism belongs to each individiual Taoist.

  17. some ppl refer to san guan as Yao,Shun & Yu 3 emperors. that isnt right. they should b Ziwei Da Ti, Qingxu Da ti & Dongying Da Ti.But in Bao chi temple I remember they hav Yao, Shun & Yu. With Shun Ti @ the centre, Being the main Ancestry of Tan for 10 surnames.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, we dont mix them up, due to Bao Chi Gong is a Temple that honour Tan Clan's Ancestor, and so, Yao, Shun & Yu are being honour too.

In Taoism, San Guan is San Guan, not part of San Huang Wu Di.

  19. Master, I have a question regarding Tian She Ri (Heavenly Pardon Day). Is this day meant for clearing our spiritual debts and sins? How do we make use of this day? If so, what incantations may we recite?

    ReplyDelete
  20. To be more accurate, Tian She Ri got nothing to related to Jade Emperor of Heaven.

In Taoist Culture, Jade Emperor of Heaven will do inspections on 3 Occasion in a Year, one during his Manifestation Anniversart, one on Tian Kuang Ri and last on 25th Day of Lunar 12 Month.

Tian She Ri is actually honouring the Star Lord known as Tian She Xing (天赦星), this Star Lord is able to eliminate the Sins & Debts that Oneself has, if only Oneself is able to honour him Sincerely & Faithfully without any form of Un-necessary Requesting.

Tian She Xing will appear in the Mortal Realm 4 times a Year, which falls on:

Spring Season Wu Yin Day (春戊寅)
Summer Season Jia Wu Day (夏甲午)
Autumn Season Wu Shen Day (秋戊申)
Winter Season Jia Zi Day (冬甲子)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks for enlightening. Then. for elimination of sins, is it better to pray to Lord Bei Dou?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for enlightening. Then in this case, is it better to pray to Lord Bei Dou for elimination of sins?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Of cos Bei Dou is the best. But we also need to respect Tian She Xing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why are "Wu" and "Shen" chosen?
Is there any reason behind it?

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is according to the Ancient Records that on the Days or Wu meeting Shen or Jia meeting Zi, etc, Negative Things will happened or Mortals will tend to have the Negative Thoughts of doing Evil Stuffs.

In-order to cut-off such thoughts, Tian She Xing will arrived in-order to stop or allow Mortals to request for Reprimanding or Replenishing.

  26. Hi Master, as Tian She Ri is coming soon, do you mind sharing the methods of honouring Tian She Xing, what chants to do and any temples to visit to honour Tian She Xing? Thanks a lot.

  27. Dear Yuanz,

    Sorry for the late reply.

For Tian She Ri, in Taoism, we will do the same as Tian Kuang Ri, you can refer to the following links for more info:
