Introduction on Xing Fu Wang Ye (大唐勇義邢府王爺)

Upon request, in here, I will do a Brief Introduction on Xing Fu Wang Ye (邢府王爺).

Xing Fu Wang Ye aka Duke or Lord Xing. Actual name known as Xing Peng (邢鵬) or Xing Tian Zheng (邢天正). Born in Tang Dynasty AD 666 (生于唐乾封元年), Birthday on 23rd Day of Lunar 8 Month (農曆八月廿三日). Hometown in He Dong Province Li Cheng County (祖籍與河東歷城縣).

In the early age of Xing Peng, Li Cheng County was seriously being invaded by Flooding and so, the whole Family had to migrate to Hokkien Province Quan Zhou City (遷移至福建省泉州市). During the migration, Xing Peng's father had used up most of the Money and so, by the time the Family settled in Quan Zhou City, the Family had to go around to seek Financial Assistance from the Relative & Friends.

Even though the Family was poor, Xing Peng did not give up his Study. Instead, he went around to assist Scholars, Physicians & Teachers, at the same time, learnt Military Skills & Physician Knowledge from the People.

At the age of 17, with the assistance of the Scholars, Physicians & Teachers, Xing Peng sign-up for the Imperial Examination and got 3rd Position.

One year, while in Servicing of the Tang Empire, Xing Peng was summoned into the Imperial Palace to do inspection on the Sickness of Empress Wu (武則天). With the Skills that Xing Peng had learnt from the Physicians during his Young-age, Xing Peng was able to prescrible a set of Chinese Medicine for Empress Wu. After 3 doses of consuming of the Medicine, Empress Wu was cured and so, Xing Peng was promoted to Duke Position.

In AD 680, Xing Peng defeated the Invaders from the Northern China (北番). With his Great-result, Xing Peng was then being Promoted to a Higher Position of Overall Chief Commendor for Tang Empire. Even though Xing Peng had promoted to such a High Position, whenever his Subordinates got hurt or injuried in Battles, Xing Peng would make his trip to the Individual camp to do the curing & bandaging for the Armies. With his Great Compassionate & Caring, Xing Peng gained a lot of Supports from the Armies.

AD 690, Empress Wu got the Throne from her Son (唐中宗). Immediately after Empress Wu ascended to the Throne, Xing Peng was being summoned back to the Imperial Court, in-order to prevent Xing Peng from getting Rebellious.

Due to Xing Peng was not able to accept the Fact of Empress Wu got the Throne from the Tang Emperor and changed the Empire Title from Tang to Zhou (唐號至周), Xing Peng rejected the summoning. With Loyalty & uprighteous, Xing Peng killed himself (忠義殉國).

At the time of his Passing-on, Xing Peng was only 33 Years old (享年三十三歲). His Passing-on Date was 13th Day of Lunar 1 Month (卒於農曆正月十三日).

After Xing Peng pass-on, the Subordinates and his Hometown Fellows dedicated Temple to him as a form of Respect & Remembrance.

  12. bro, can those master who make kim sin assign a weapon to the kim sin as he likes? or every weapon assigned for every kim sin is fixed? the weapon the position of no 7 & 8 xing fu wang ye looks almost 80% like our ong yah in the temple.. except the bian is pointing forward and black/white flowered faced..

  13. Hi, I think there are so many deities and with new ones being bestowed now and then, there are some similiarities in their kim sim (some kim sim are also used to represent some other deities). What's most important is how we take care of the kim sim and show our dedication to the deity. :) Mine is passed down from my grandpa and I recently sent it for restoration, preserving the heritage that we have since our ancestors.

I hope you don't mind my 2 cents worth.

    Cheers!

  15. Usually People dont honour Xing Fu alone, but with the other 2 Wang Yes - Li & Zhu.

For People who only honour Xing are usually Quan Zhou People or An Xi People.

  16. Hi Bro, this is a common trend in nowadays. Since 50 years ago, all statues that we honoured now are not carved according to the History or Background, cos most of the Masters who do carving only made statues according to hearsay or words from Mediums.

If we will to see Qi Wang Ye (in your temple), the more accurate weapon will be Spear and not Bian...

  17. Hi Jave,

Yes it comes in threes'. The other two have been given to my grandfather's family and I don't know their whereabouts now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Take your time, maybe when the time is right, you can dedicate the other 2 to make it a full set.

  19. Well I hope to find them someday .... :)

  20. Hahaha, no need to find, the statues are in Spore. Once you are ready, I can show you their statues :P

But if you want to them to look like the Xing Wang Ye that you have, then I will introduce an Old Statue-shop for the making of the statues.

  21. i had this very strong feeling that our qi wang ye is either xing or chi (we only pray to one of the 7).. i was told this ong yah(alone) is popularly prayed back in china.. i guess the "china" the elder mentioned refers to quan zhou..

i m very tempted everytime to appraoch straight at the wang ye medium.. but didnt do that because my dad accompany would have asked him.. but if they didnt then i probably wun get an answer.. i have to make a trip to the stone lion city temple to find out more..

now that u mention spear.. our ong ye kim sin in stone lion city is holding a spear.. but i feel that weapon cant be uniquely used to identify a certain deity.. since they should know how to use all types of weapons back then..

  22. Hi devilsty,

I identified this deity with Jave de, through the death anniversary which is the13th day of the First Lunar Month. We only celebrate this occasion as told by my grandfather not on his birthday.

    Cheers!

  24. The Qi Wang Ye in your temple is not the Actual Wang Ye like what the others are honouring now. Cos of the Complicated History of this Qi Wang Ye, now in China, Taiwan and Singapore, alot of Elders had give up honouring, cos they found that, the more they honoured, the more issues they encountered, this is why, now only left with your Temple and a few Quan Zhou Groups honouring.

In Shi Shi Area, besides the Combination of the 7 Dukes as Qi Wang Ye, another Qi Wang Ye is known as Yang Fu Qi Qian Sui, which is the 7th Son of Yang Warriors. This is why, we dedicated Spear to Qi Wang Ye.

  25. ehipassiko1975 do not worry abt the Real Identity of your Ancestor Deity, cos devilsty & i are discussing on the Qi Wang Ye in his Temple, cos for the past few decades, the statue is still considered Mystery to them.

Usually for Chinese Deities, they have 2 -3 Celebration Dates:

    1) Birthday aka Manifestation Day
    2) Immortal-hood or Enlightenment Day
    3) Anniversary of a certain event

  29. I meant the Common Set of Zhu Xing Li in Singapore.
Is this the Xing Fu Wang Ye/Da Ren that's in it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Then will you be doing an Introduction on Zhu Fu Da Ren and Li Fu Da Ren as well?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Zhu Fu & Li Fu are 2 Main Dukes in the Wu Fu Wang Ye Group (五府千歲). I have already do a brief intro on them in the past. You can refer to their Bao Gao (寶誥) too.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Woah I didn't know Xing San Wang is popular in Singapore!

    That's good to hear. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yup, this group of Combination was being brought over in abt 80-100 Years ago. Till today, the oldest statues of San Fu Wang Ye shall be more than 100 Years in Spore.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There is a temple for Zhu Xing Li here in Phuket as well and I wonder why this group of Combination, why they picked Zhu Xing Li for 三府王爺.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Which temple in Singapore will have these statues? :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yup, from what I know, in Thailand, quite a few places do honour Zhu Xing Li Wang Ye.

Zhu Xing Li, 3 Dukes from Tang Dynasty. In some part of the History of the Honouring, due to some Myth, these 3 Dukes will being put together as Sworn Brothers (in same Dynasty, but Zhu & Li is much more older than Xing).

After that, Quan Zhou & An Xi People continue to honour them till the People from these 2 Places migrate out from China.

This is why, now in South East Asia, People who are followers of Wang Ye, will honour Zhu Xing Li as their Clan Patrons.

  37. is there wang ye with surname of 2 wors like上官 and situ.rarely see the wu fu qian sui group in singapore accept for chi fu qian sui quite common

    ReplyDelete
  38. Due to Shang Guan & Si Tu surnames got lesser Descendants, so its quite rare to see any People honour them.

In Spore, yup, lesser Wu Fu Qian Sui Followers. But slowly, we will be able to see the Official Taoist Groups honouring them.
