Scripture of Yuan Tong Zi Zai Tian Zun

In the following is a very Rare Scripture that being recorded dedicating to Yuan Tong Zi Zai Tian Zun. According to some of the contexts and records, this Scripture was found far before Tang Dynasty.

For Taoism, even though we do not have a Deity known as Guan Shi Yin, but from this Scripture, you are able to see that, the term Guan Shi Yin is a form of action rather than an Official Title of any Deity.

If you are interested in doing chanting of this Scripture, please do treasure it, cos this is indeed a piece of Rare & Precious Scriptures.

PS: For those who dont know how to do proper chanting on this Scripture, can PM or email me at javecxwu@gmail.com

  5. Actually this is an Open Question.

1 - does she belongs to Taoism
2 - does she has any afinity with Taoism
3 - what are the origin of this lady
4 - will she attain enlightenment under Taoism
    5 - etc etc...

  6. The Baogao is very familiar to me. I sudden realize that Baogao is what we used in Guanyin Zhengchao ^^ Oh yeah, almost forgot, I've some photos documented from the celebration comemorating the arrival of San Bao Da Ren to Java in Gedong Batu, wonder can I post it here? Or maybe I'll just send it to you?

  7. Yes, in Quan Zhen Guan Yin Zheng Chao Ritual, this Bao Gao is being recited. But in Quan Zhen Bao Gao, there are a few versions, one of the versions is a direct imported from Bo Luo Mi Duo Xin Jing aka The Heart Sutra.

You can always send to me at javecxwu@gmail.com or you can post it in your multiply.com and then I will make a link to your posting.

  10. Thanks for posting this! First time I've seen it in full; I think there was a copy minus the 寳誥等 on jnk.com... Are there alot of those little texts in Singapore, like the 觀音真經? Our master says they are 緯, but I'd like to know if Daoists there use them...

    http://www.taoism.org.hk/religious-activites-rituals/taoist-folk-customs/pg5-12-17.htm
Has some great little essays on the history of Daoist belief in 慈航真君。

Don't know about other sects, but at least 神霄法派的 people ought to be comfortable with titling Her as 觀音大士, because that is the Daoist name She received under 宋徽宗's push for a national Daoism. Also, the stories of 妙善化身 may seem like Folk Religion, and have meaning in 三教合一思想; probably She comes out of folk worship as much as Buddhism and Daoism, much like 天上聖母。But the life of 妙善/姓音 shows us how special She is to alot 坤道, especially. As such, She is a great teacher for aspiring 道姑們, showing determination and loyalty, with a spirit of pure compassion.

This is a scripture that needs more study and practice from all Daoists... Thanks very much.

  11. We Taoists only used this Scripture, other than that, the rest are created not long ago, which got of no use after chanting.

To be more accurate, like what I have said, in Taoism, we do not have any Guan Yin, Guan Yin is just a form of action that Yuan Tong Tian Zun used to have, but after Buddhism imported him into their Culture, the People tend to use Guan Yin (the action) to create alot of related issues - which is not accurate.

After Guan Yin is being created in their contexts and in order to attract more Chinese Devotees during the Tang and Song Era, People tend to create stories for him, such as Miao Shan, etc...

And last, using this Character to step-down most of the Taoist Deities and Culture.

  12. Hi Shifu. I was searching thru old entries and I found this one.

Guan Yin Pusa in original Buddhist context is called Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, and it is actually an action too, it means "listen to the world's sounds." and we believe that this deity will manifest in all forms to shower blessing on all. The Buddhist monks I hear say that Guan Yin is not really just for Buddhists, but also Taoists as well (and also for Christians, like Virgin Mary).

My Buddhist shifus say that Buddhists should respect other religions and deities, because Buddha told his disciples to be never arrogant. Buddhists "respect" Taoist deities, but stay on the Buddhist path--Buddhist is Buddhist, Taoist is Taoist.

Maybe today Buddhists are more tolerant of other religions?

  13. For this, I wont comment much, cos I have been answering to this issue for more than tonnes of times. Maybe you as a Non-Taoist, you shall follow whatever your Buddhist Masters had thought you.

For us Taoists, we tolerate and accept other Religions, but we wont Promote the Teachings of other Religions, cos this is out of Respect and Highest Respect to the others.

  15. Yes, I agree. One should decide which Path to cultivate (either Orthodox and True Taoism or Orthodox and True Buddhism). But I found it amazing that such a deity (Yuan Tong Zi Zai Tian Zun) exists, it just shows that Heavenly Beings are capable of much compassion.

    Thank you Shifu!

    Gong Xi Fa Cai! :)

  16. Sorry for mixing in this discussion :-) As far as I know all Avalokiteshvara pictures/statues show a "male" buddhist deity, but GuanYin Pusa is a "female" buddhist deity. I suppose, they are 2 different deities: the male one in India and the female one in China. The meaning of their name name could be the same. The people in mortal world probably need more than one "hotline-number" that they can call in emergency. So the Jade Emperor give the same tasks "to listen to the world's sounds" to some deities regardless buddhist or taoist or other. :-)
Well that is only my opinion but maybe my opinion is not correct.
I will be glad for some responses from experienced spritual bro and sis.

    Warm regards,
    Yang

  17. Shifu, do you have Bao Gao for Dizang Wang Pusa? e.g. Tu Di Gong Bao Gao for Dizang Wang Pusa? :-)
I just think about similar to case of Yuan Tong Zi Zai Tian Zun Bao Gao for Guan Yin Pusa.

    Thank you in advance.

    Warm regards,
    Yang

  18. Yuan Tong Zi Zai Tian Zun is not Guan Yin Pu Sa, this is one thing that you needed to differentiate it.

As for Di Zang, cos he/she is not Taoist Deities, so there wont be any Bao Gao for him/her.

Bao Gao is only mend for Official Taoist Deities.

  19. Shifu, thank you for the enlightment. *bow*
I realized, I misunderstood "Guan Yin is just a form of action that Yuan Tong Tian Zun used to have", "Quan Zhen Guan Yin Zheng Chao Ritual" and "Buo Luo Mi Duo Xin Jing aka The Heart Sutra."

    Warm regards,
    Yang

  20. Quan Zhen is a School that promotes 3 Religions, whereas the Main Stream Taoism does not, so please do not mix them together.

In Taoism, we only have Yuan Tong Tian Zun or Ci Hang Tian Zun.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I understand :) thank you *bow* for spiritual things I am starting to follow the main stream one to avoid confusion. Hope I have chance to become your diciple one day in the future.

  22. This is good that you have the faith n heart in learning the Main Stream Teaching. I'm sure you will succeed oneday.

As for the disciple of Long Shan Men, hahaha, no worry, once the Affinity is there, I'm sure you will be selected.

As for the moment, try to only go on one Path, learn more on the Teaching of Zheng Yi School. From there, you will see the differences.

    ReplyDelete
  23. WOW! Zheng Yi School is in Taiwan and LSM is in Singapore. It seems, the deities want to take me back from Europe to Asia :-) really an affinity! *bow*

    ReplyDelete
  24. Zheng Yi School is everywhere. So no matter where you are, you are able to find it.

Just that, in Europe now, the Teaching is being mix-up, so in someway, you can find the Purer form of Teaching.
