Hi folks,
This evening, a little past 11pm, the few of us went to the Tian Jun Fu at Tebing Lane, which is off Punggol East. Matt, Jave & his kakis (Donnie & Davis), Sisi, Doris and I were there.
We learnt that the Jin-keng was yesterday and so, all the activities were last night and today, it was relatively quiet. So, the temple members had time to share with us a little more about the temple. Well, I will try share a little more in my next posting. In the meanwhile some pictures to share with you. So, this combined temples of three temples are now complete.

There are two pairs of Tua Li Ya Pek and there is this interesting Persian Deity

This is a Temple, since young, I have being told about the special pair of Da Er Ye Bo (Red robe is Chen Da Nian & Yin-Yang Face is Li Ke). 10 odd years ago, my Father had been visiting this Temple on their Celebration and after so many years after my Father pass-on, I have yet to visit this Temple till yesterday.
ReplyDeleteTian Jun Fu, main Deity is Guang Sheng Di Jun (關聖帝君), on the Right Altar (accompany Deities) is dedicated to Ci Ren Xian Weng (慈仁仙翁 a Persian Enlighted Immortal), Prince Huo Yan (火焰太子), Ci Cai Tong Zi (賜財童子), Ji Gong (濟公) & Master Lv Dong Bin (呂洞賓).
On the Left Altar (the Nether World Section), center is Cheng Huang (城隍), General Xie Bi An & Fan Wu Jiu (謝必安及范無咎) and of cos, their special pair of Generals - General Chen Da Nian & Li Ke (陳大年及李客).
hi do u have the introduction of ci ren xian weng, huo yan taizi and ci cai tongzi? is ci cai tong zi = shan cai tong zi?
ReplyDeleteCi Cai Tong Zi is not Shan Cai Tong Zi. Shan Cai Tong Zi only appear in Buddhist Context, whereas Ci Cai Tong Zi is one of the young assistants of Deity of Wealth aka Cai Shen.

the one in red and blue robe is 陳大年及李客 ?

The one in red & yin-yang face is Chen Da Nian & Li Ke.

ReplyDeleteThis was my first time to see Guan Gong in a seated position without book or weapon ,most unusual but seated in a very relaxed almost meditative pose ...very interesting with very calming erergy !

ReplyDeleteIn Spiritual Theory, this is the best posture for Guan Gong statue for home or requesting of Mortals' Blessing.
Tian Jun Fu had got the best and most accurate statue for Guan Gong.
For me, usually I will advise people to get this posture for home-honouring.
ReplyDeleteIn Singapore, it is extremely difficult to get such a posture, but recently, I saw one in Rochor Centre, but too bad, no one really know how to appreciate that and so, the statue was beng left there to collect dust.
Next time, when anyone wanted to get this 100% accurate posture for home honouring, must try your best to look out for that statue in Rochor Centre.

ReplyDeleteYes, for High Level Deities, usually they will sit in a calm & peaceful posture such as Bao Sheng Da Di, Guan Sheng Di Jun aka Shan Xi Fu Zi, Wen Chang, etc...
ReplyDeleteThis is to allow a closer connection between Mortals and the Deities.
For a High Level Deities, they do not need to appear in fierce or demonic form, reason, they are there to provide the Upright Teaching & Preaching for the Mortals and not advising them to go fight & argue with the others.
Why Temples that dedicated to Guan Gong, usually have a Tian character including?
This is according to Folks Belief. The folks believe that after Guan Gong got his enlightenment, he is able to travel around in the Heavenly Realm freely without any form of restriction whereas the other Deities are not allow and so, in big & old temples, they will have names such as Heng Tian Gong, Xing Tian Gong, Tian Zhu Gong, Tian Jun Fu, Tian Di Fu, etc, dedicating to Guan Gong.
This is to show the highest respect to Guan Gong and also to show the importance of Guan Gong in Folks Belief and everyday blessing.
For those Temples that used Shan Xi Miao, Zhong Yi Miao, Ting Hou Miao, etc.. mostly these Temples have their Urn brought over from China or such Temples are being opened by Family-lineages.
what type of head gear is best of guan yu as most see in older temple r the type that r tied up on the top and also the one like xuan tian shang di . xie tian da di and shan xi fu zi is it that shan xi fu xi is before 'hong' and xie tian is after' hong '.
ReplyDeleteUsually Guan Gong wear the head-gear that you see the statue wearing in Tian Jun Fu. This is the best and most relevant head-gear.
ReplyDeleteIn the whole History, Guan Gong is only being bestowed with the Official Title Han Shou Ting Hou by Cao Cao, from then, he didnt get any form of Official Title until other Dynasty, such as Song, Ming & Qing.
The rest are all human-bestowed-title, not all are Official.

ReplyDeleteFor this, you have to get the permission from the Temple. Cos this Deity is one of the main Deities in the Temple.
