Spiritual Dinner with Spiritual People (道文化小聚餐)

Rating:★★★
Category:Other

Last Night (20 April 2008), a few of us – the Taoist Spiritual People gathered together to have a Dim Sum Dinner at Rui Chun Dian Xin Shop (瑞春點心) located at Jalan Bersah, as we had our Dinner, we also discussed about the ways of Promoting of our Upright Culture of Taoism, the Future of Local Zheng Yi Sect (正一天師道) and also, how to get in more interested Parties to join in the Group to promote our Culture and get the Teaching to pass down Generation by Generation.

So who attended?

Thanks to Taoist Priest Simon Lee of Hian Eng Taoist Group aka Xian Ying Dao Tan (顯應道壇), Bro Matt from UK London, me of Long Shan Dao Tan (龍山道壇) and last, my lastest Student Donnie.

In here, will really like to express my Thanks to Donnie who rushed down from his work to the Hotel where Bro Matt was staying to fetch us to the Dinner and then to some other places for a quick Night Tour. With his sincerity and kindness, all of us are really happy and appreciated.

So what have we discussed?

During the starting of the Dinner, Priest Simon and Bro Matt were discussing about the various Qi Gong styles (氣功) then switched to the Healing Energies from various Taoist Practice, then to the Visualization Skills (觀想) that we used in Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies and last, the current situation on our Local Taoism and the future of our Zheng Yi Sect.

As all of us know that, today, in Singapore, Not much Priests or Taoists will dare to claim themselves as a follower of Zheng Yi Sect. Why? Due to the Political Issues and the Wrong promoting of Culture from the various Organisations.

This is really a Pity scene to see and Terrible news to know.

And so, we discuss about how to attract more interested parties to join us to do the promotion.

So, we briefly come up with some ideas, such as doing more simple translation on our Taoist Scriptures, doing Reports on Taoist Rituals/Ceremonies – not commercial type but the Traditional type, by imparting the Upright and yet interesting information to the newer Generation and last, to stop the destructive wrong promotion on the Folks Culture that affected the image & Reputation of our Upright Taoism.

As discussed, now a lot of the Folks tend to treat a lot of Folks Culture to be the Upright Culture and Teaching of our Taoism, which this is Not Accurate and True, cos, even though Folks Culture is a minor Part of Taoism, but they do not have the Authorities to speak up or represent the Big Dao (大道).

And so, as time goes by, our Upright Taoism will be strongly affected by such ignorant scenes and last, lead to the Death of our Upright Taoism.

As we had our discussion on the Dinner, time flies and so, soon we had to make our move to a short tour, and this marked the end of the Day.

Look forward to the next meeting up and hope that more people will be able to join in the Fun.

  1. Fully agree with all of you, most of us are facing cultural shock. Acceptance of Taoist faith is also dying in Malaysia, with some many CONMAN and so call Taoist Priest. Most of them just want 4D numbers either by the evil or spritual method, other than that they will only believe or practice Taoism if they or members of the family are sick or charmed.
Just wandering if Taoism will fate away if the younger generation don't believe. How can 1 know if the local priest is a conman or money face priest? Most of the Taoist methodology are short cut even the funeral rites including all our chinese culture. Sorry to be so direct but it's so true and I pray that people like you could expand Taoism in your Best Effort.
Humans nowadays are busy and running around looking for $$$, as a means of survival and the best way is e-faith with the transalation of course.

Good Luck and God Bless for all your effort.

  2. For a Conman, usually we can know by the way he or the group performed the Ritual/Ceremony, the Taoist Titles that he or the group being bestowed upon and the School Lienage that he or the group belongs to.

Many Priests in Local or over the South-east Asia are not able to answer back, Why? cos of they just wanted to make a living and not really making effort to promote the culture.

A good & Cultivated Priest will not talk with you much on the money or any form of in-return.
