Pictures of The Officer of Silk-Harvesting and the Five Various Ghosts (蠶官與五鬼)

Can Guan Yu Wu Gui (蠶官與五鬼) aka The Officer of Silk-Harvesting and the Five Various Ghosts.

In Spiritual Records, Can Guan aka The Officer of Silk-Harvesting was being appointed by Jade Emperor (玉皇大天尊) to assist Lord Tai Sui (值年太歲) in looking after the Harvesting Issues of the Silk and looking after the Birth-rate-issue of Silkworms.

Besides the normal task of looking after the Silk-Harvesting and Silkworm Birth-rate, Can Guan was also a Deity of Prosperity (豐收興榮之神). And so, in-order to be blessed with good harvesting, farmers would pay respect to Can Guan.

Wu Gui here meaning, the Spirits that obstruct the Harvesting. By appointing Can Guan to look after and control the movements of Wu Gui, normal Harvesting would be blessed.

And this is the reason that you can always see Wu Gui are being placed together with Can Guan.
