Zhang Gong Sheng Jun aka Fa Zhu Gong (張公聖君又稱法主公).
Born in Song Dynasty, hometown at Hokkien Province, China (生于宋朝年間﹐祖籍與中國福建省).
In stories, folks believed that Zhang Gong Sheng Jun got another 2 sworn brothers (name as Xiao Gong Sheng Jun and Hong Gong Sheng Jun 與臨水夫人相同﹐張公亦有兩位結拜兄弟﹐個別稱之為肖公聖君及洪公聖君。民間又有以章公聖君取代肖公).
Due to the battle with the Thousand years old Snake Demon, Zhang Gong sacrifice himself. After Heaven knew about his braveness, he was being appointed as a Deity which holds quite an important role in the Celestial Court.
And according to Taoist records, he was known as the disciple of Xu Zhen Ren aka Gan Tian Da Di -> which later being addressed as Lv Shan Fa Zhu Zhang Sheng Jun (Lv Shan is the Sect that Zhang Gong belongs to 張公聖君亦傳之為許遜天師之高足﹐乃閭山法主派之始祖).

the red face sheng jun actually got quite a few surname as in different temple call him by different surname: 皇、洪、 章。 ani idea why he got different surnames?? whereas for the black and green, the surnames quite standard: black-张、 green-萧。

ReplyDeleteYup, Hong and Zhang belongs to the same person, but in the real context, Fa Zhu shall have four... the fourth one is who, till today no one can really say out the name or the background of him.
ReplyDeleteAs for whether Fa Zhu has the title Bei Ji, this is up to individual, we cant comment much, cos in Main Stream Taoism, Fa Zhu is Fa Zhu and Fa Zhu is a human, no such thing as having a Horn or look like a monster.
The most accurate looking of Fa Zhu shall be the one in pic (fazhu18082007_7.jpg).

ReplyDeleteTo be more exact, all these are man-made, whether is true in form or fake in name, as long as we are sincere enough, the Spirit or the energy of Huat Zhu Gong will entered into the statue.
If not, the one with horn that is so popular in Spore will have being boycott by all Huat Zhu Gong fans... wahahahahahahahaha
Wu Liang Shou
I feel it is best that we can see Fazhugong in real vision. Else we may feel not comfortable if we cannot know if the statue we are putting look like him. Then again, how many people can see him directly and everyone vision is different too. That really depends on how Fazhugong wants to appear and our mind antenna too.
ReplyDeleteI have asked one power man and he told me Fazhugong is wearing a general's uniform with a head gear. His hair is flowing to his back, having a beard, don't look angry, and everything else the same as what we see in statues.
Thus I believe we should put the most popular design as seen today. Since this is what majority see Fazhugong, it is a good start.
Until when we see him in vision, we can decide to make the form as what we see him for our personal prayers. If we have temple, we can use this new form and to get acceptance gradually by the public.
Finally, I pray to Fazhugong to bless all our minds to be free from egoism.

ReplyDeleteFa Zhu aka Huat Zhu is a common term to be used among the various Schools of Spiritual Skills.
ReplyDeleteThe initial term of Fa Zhu used was in Lv Shan Sect, after then, other Spiritual Schools also used this term for the Deities that involved.
Fa Zhu, a form of Protector or Deity that being appointed to withold the Uprightness of Spiritual Skills, only Official Bestowing, then a Fa Zhu is consider a Fa Zhu, if not, all are just man-made.

ReplyDeletebro, im a fan of zhang gong, but, i still nt very sure of the san sheng, cuz arh, some ppl they all place their position as: green, black, red. while some others placed their position as: red, black, green. (left to right order).

To be more exact, Zhang (black) in center, red on our right and green on our left. But due to different areas and practices, some of the areas, the position will switch.

In Taoist Lv Shan Sect, we honour more than these 3 Sheng Zhe, which are:
Zhang Gong, Xiao Gong, Lian Gong and Liu Gong.
Xu Zhen Ren is not Bao Sheng Da Di, Bao Sheng Da Di is known as Wu Tao and Xu Zhen Ren is Xu Xun.

cuz arh, a friend of my, he himself doesnt knw taoism very well, but bought 2 god statues, which is zhang gong sheng jun and guan sheng di jun, and the prob is tat he donno how to place ther position,
can u tell which position o place the gods?? cuz the gods have been enchanted for abt 2 days and juz left on the table like this.. he havent really started praying the gods wif joss stick since he carried the2 statues back...

Lian Gong, can have face color of White, Black, Red and Green, so which one you prefer?
ReplyDeleteIn Folks Taoism, such things can happen. The color and outlook will go according to the prefer-color and pattern of the Owner.
As for ur fren's case, for the moment, do send the statues to any near-by Temple or seek any Trained Taoist Priest or Spiritual Master to re-do the enhancement again.
Cos once a statue is being enhanced and after that, no offering of incenses for more than 24 hours, the Energy in the statue will automatically be released out and once it is released out, then any issues can happened.

Li Na Zha aka San Tai Zi is just a Man-made Character from Feng Shen Bang.

How about on normal home altars that have already been installed? Will the energies in the deity statues be released over the period of time when an entire family goes for holiday for say a week and there is no one at home to offer incense? Is there any way to prevent this from happening when there is no one at home to offer incense for a period of time?

For home statues, it will be a bit different as compare to a newly enhanced statue.
ReplyDeleteIf your family is going overseas for a period of time, best before you all leave for the holiday, make a report to the deities (how long the period, etc), followed by burning some Paper-offerings and after then, on the day of leaving, bring some incenses-ashes from the Incense-holder (put inside a red-packet) along.
Once when you all returned back, do remember to put the ashes back into the Incense-holder and prepare a set of offering for the Deities.
