Si Hai as in Four Sea, not Sea of the West Direction.
Since our Chinese Deity System was recorded, there were already 4 Main Dragon Kings guarding on each directional seas.
Cos in the Ancient Era, Chinese always regards China Main Land as the center of the Whole World and so, they always had the impression of being surround by seas. With that impressions, the seas were being divided into 4 directions, which results in having 4 dragon kings later.
Today, if we will to look carefully at the whole global map, it's also not very difficult to find that, around us, the seas are divided into 4 directions. :P
hello, understand from ur earlier post there arent any Dragon King temples in Sinagapore. may I know where I can find the side alters for the Dragon King ? TIA !

ReplyDeleteIn Singapore, we dont really have individual Temple that is dedicated to Dragon Kings, but some side altars do.
ReplyDeleteHere, we have a sintua named as Bei Hai Se, this is the Tua that honour the 4 Kings as their main Deity.

ReplyDeleteYou can visit Sembawang Cai Shen Temple, they have one very big Dragon King statue outside the temple facing the monsoon canel.
